Correct installation and also observance of the running-in regulations are decisively important for the service life of a conveyor belt. This work should only be carried out by qualified personnel.
Please ensure that:
the belt edges are in the correct position in relation to the running direction,
the belt edges are straight,
the belt is lying tension-free and without tent formation of the spirals,
the crossbars are at right angles to the edge of the belt,
the belt does not have any mechanical damage,
the belt is in centrally positioned in the system.
It has been shown that heat-resistant chromium- nickel steels work-harden more than low-alloy steels during manufacture. The spirals stretch more in the longitudinal direction under operational conditions and become straighter. This makes the belt longer. When running at high temperatures of between 650 °C and 850 °C, cracks frequently occur in the wire that increase in size if the belt tension is high. New conveyor belts should be operated with as little belt tension as possible during the heat-up phase.
